The NetEnt Board of Directors has made the decision that Per Eriksson is to be replaced as the NetEnt Chief Executive Officer. At this time, Therese Hillman is filling the role of Acting CEO until a permanent appointment is made.
NetEnt Looks to Increase Long-Term Growth
Although Per Eriksson has been the CEO of NetEnt for some time, much of it through tremendous growth of the company, he has stepped down. During the past year, while many aspects of NetEnt are continuing to develop well, the overall performance of the company has dropped.
The decision was made in the past week after a meeting of the NetEnt Board took place. Vigo Carlund, the Chairman of the Board announced that Per Eriksson, President and CEO of NetEnt would be leaving his position with immediate effect. Eriksson has held both the President and CEO positions since 2012.
The recruitment process has begun. NetEnt’s Board of Directors is hoping that a new CEO will bring a fresh perspective and help advance the Group, getting things back on track. While Therese Hillman is the Acting CEO, she will continue in her role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Per Eriksson brought B2B sales experience with him when he entered the role as CEO of NetEnt. He has guided the company through a number of exciting developments including the introduction of NetEnt Live and mobile casino products. While the company had been in a strong position for most of Eriksson’s leaderships, the 2017 profits had declined by 3.9%.
NetEnt’s Chairman Comments
Vigo Carlund, NetEnt’s Chairman of the Board explained: “NetEnt has developed well over many years and several parts of the business are still developing well, for example in regulated markets, but the overall performance of the Group has not been as it should.”
He further noted: “The Board believes that NetEnt needs a new driving force to reverse the trend and increase the focus on growth. The value creation potential in NetEnt remains significant. The online gaming market has structural growth driven by the migration from offline to online gaming. The Company has a solid balance sheet and a strong brand name in its segment of the market.”
In conclusion, Carlund thanks Per Eriksson on behalf of the Board. He explained that NetEnt is grateful for the time that Eriksson was at the helm of the company.
